ANU College of Law - Exemplar Course and Development Partner

This initiative to transform the education and learning of law started as an idea with the ANU College of Law becoming the ‘exemplar course and development partner’.

This relationship enables Aboriginal leadership within Host Partners to invite participants and partners from across Australia to partner in additional courses and help realise our intent of transformational change.

The exemplar course will take place in April 2022 at Mparntwe and Uluru and for a cohort of 16 Bachelor of Laws students.

The exemplar course will be delivered on country at Mparntwe and Uluru with Arrernte and Anangu speaking with cultural authority.  The course will also connect Educators, Interpreters, Academics and Lawyers.

The course will consider issues such as how justice as a concept, and as a practice, is presented and rendered credible, strong and ‘true’. Deep listening will support engagement with Aboriginal perspectives. By equipping law students with a more critical and meaningful understanding of Aboriginal perspectives, this course aims to achieve long-term changes to the legal system.
